Pastor Mark Houghton, his wife Cathy and their 4 young kids have been part of this church for about 8 years. In April of this year, Cathy passed away and went home to be with the Lord after her second battle with cancer (if you want to hear more details, click here to check out the October 15 message). Cathy was an incredible servant and we were devastated as a church. Of course Mark took a leave of absence and was now left to continue raising 4 children and try to figure out how to move forward. It wasn't certain when he would be returning to ministry as pastor and there was even a possibility of it not happening at all, but the grace of the living God is even greater than we thought! Through much prayer and determination, Mark has returned to service as pastor at the beginning of this month. Mark is functioning well and has handled so many adjustments incredibly but there is still a void from losing his wife because they were so very much in love. Please remember to pray for even more of God's grace. We have actually had 4 spouses within our relatively small congregation pass away in the last year alone and a number of others who attend who have also been through the same experience. It appears that God has placed a very important calling to our specific congregation. To identify with others who are hurting. We don't have all the answers, but we can share our burdens with each other. Romans 12:15 says to rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn. Do you feel alone? Are you mourning? Come and be encouraged, even just to be among others who have deep hurts but have discovered the contagious love of Christ who has suffered in every way imaginable (Hebrews 2:18). Won't you join us?
